Festival des Grottes History
The Festival des Grottes, established in 2014 by ODID (Organisation de Développement Intégral de Dondon), celebrates Dondon’s rich history, Taino heritage, and natural beauty, growing into a regional and international attraction. It promotes eco-tourism, cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and women’s entrepreneurship, with key activities including music and arts performances, historical tours, and economic opportunities for local vendors. Over the years, the festival has expanded its reach, incorporating structured programs for youth and women and attracting international participation. As it prepares for its 10th anniversary in 2025, themed “A New Era”, the festival will feature a classical concert, expanded eco-tourism offerings, and fundraising initiatives, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of ODID’s mission for cultural and economic revitalization in Dondon.
The festival has become a cornerstone of ODID’s mission, fostering economic opportunities, cultural identity, and sustainable development. As ODID prepares for the 10th edition in 2025, the Festival des Grottes continues to drive cultural and economic revitalization in Dondon.
